ProgramsThe Taos Rotary Club actively supports local programs and services including the following: Annual scholarship fund awards, benefiting graduating high school seniors and others continuing their education. (Photos from Lisa or this year’s award ceremony.) In 2010 we plan to give approximately $10,000 in scholarships to youth from Taos who are continuing their education. Support of Literacy in Taos County. On July 1, 2009, we initiated a three year commitment to support improved literacy among children and youth in Taos County. This includes providing dictionaries annually to every third grade child in Taos County, a project we implement in cooperation with the Taos Kiwanis Club, providing books and support to the Taos Public Library’s spring and summer reading programs, including the “Big Read,” and a new project, providing books to mothers of newborns. (Photos from Dictionary project.) Support of the Mens Homeless Shelter, by providing nutritious, home cooked meals twice a month,every 1st Sunday and 4th Tuesday.
